Removing '86 X Flywheel

So this stator flywheel is the last thing keeping me from splitting my engine cases. I tried the front axle trick, but apparently the 2nd gen X isnt the same (threads are too small on axle). Does anyone know what thread size i need to remove the flywheel?

I save everything so some of this may not be of help to you; But may help others....

But, every flywheel I have taken off that is a "pusher" type puller I use is from my spare Toyota trucks bolts I save. I imagine other metric bolts fit as well....

Like Yaeger showed ya, it's nice to have all the correct tools and they're fairly inexpensive.

But, do what you gotta do. I think my buddy Brian Ward used a 350X or 250R REAR AXLEs hub threads to remove another model a couple weeks back after asking me; I'm not sure what you have hanging around.

When I was young, I couldn't afford ANY of the right tools, but when you ruin something half a$$ing it, you just end up paying anyhow.

OH yeah, and if your splitting that cases be aware the crank is LH threads and 75% of people ruin them. Clutch is RH threads.

And if your in there, Tyou should clean out the oil filter rotor. The 3 screws are sometimes very tight and it's cast aluminum so be careful with an impact screwdriver gently tapped with a as it turns them loose: (another tool I drooled over at 14y.o.).

But, it's important to clean that thing out, it works like a filter by centrifugal force that forces the junk to fly to the outsides of it. And I replace those screws with allen head tapered ones, 6.0M x .1m pitch.

I used the REAR axle on my 86 x.

I had to rethread one side of the axle awhile back. I'll have to pull the nut and see which is factory, then just get a bolt thatll thread. That is, if its not an uncommon thread pattern

Im glad i read the manual and did some lookin on here before pulling that centrifugal filter housing. I spun the nut out correctly. The screws were jacked up already, so theyre gettin replaced for sure.

So the ebay sale shows 1983-1987. Does that mean the flywheel is the same, but the front axle is different?

Your right on the front axle i tried also, a 86/87 front axle it definetly wont work. But u already knew that.
Bob- was/is correct the rear looks like it'll work i just didnt have 3 hands to hold everything.

Front Axle is the same 83/87 - (the flywheel is different for the 86/87 years) so that means that puller on ebay is only 83/85.
Hondas (service manual) tool part# is 07933-2160000 its a 16x1.5 thread http://www.bikebandit.com/manuals-to...1-5-right-hand
83-85 is 14x1.5 (front axle will work)
86-87 is 16x1.5 (wont work) the correct tool is cheap though.

My only problem is i thought the rear axle thread was 18mm (maybe not)?
Tried my oem rear axle next day and is about 2mm to big. Sooooooo?
