    New 1983 ATC200 Owner

Hey everyone, just recently picked up this 1983 ATC200 off the original owner. Obviously there is very little use, super clean little bike aside from the tank that needs some attention. I'm very new to ATCs but I've owned anything and everything with wheels from 50cc to 1000cc motorcycles, 4wheelers and 4 wheel drive trucks.

I'm from a small community in eastern canada, located in the province of Newfoundland. There are a lot of ATCs in my neck of the woods, they seem to be a rite of passage for anyone over the age of 20.

Looking forward to learning as much as I can and sharing my build and experiences with you all.

I just ordered tank decals, rear fender decals, 2 new air filters and oil strainer.

My first question is what stands out as maintenance items to be completed post-purchase, and what oil is safe to run in my trike? Thanks

Just took apart the airbox and realized that the foam material is completely eat/worn/lost from the air filter shroud. Looks like I wont be going for a ride anytime soon, we still have snow so I'll be wrenching tonight.
Can someone point me in the right direction for How-to's, oil changes, best practices, lessons learnt type of information?

I'm fairly handy myself and usually can figure out mechanical items on my own but I like reassurance from someone with experience.

Download the manual, its verry in depth. And probably good idea to open up and clean the oil rotor, inspect clutches, and such. I use valvoline atv 10w40

Definitely a good starting point, I just downloaded the manual and can't believe how in-depth it is. Very well put together for the age. Some very simple maintenance items are covered very thoroughly. I will keep this post updated for the next 2 months while I'm restricted

Does anyone have a trick to removing the hand brake perchs? I've cracked 1 screwdriver and 1 driver bit lol.

Philips bits are the worst on anything mechanical/torqued.
