Depending probably 70/30 on/off road just touring the local deserts. We've gone from Pioneer town all the way to Glamis. ..back up to julian...things like that. A lot of back roads and stuff but a lot of pave highways....kinda the only way to get 400 miles in a day. We are all in our 50's so it's a fast pace sometimes but usually a leisure/touring pace through things.
That sounds awesome. I’ve never been to pioneer town I’d love to go. Unfortunately with what I’m doing to this bike 400 miles on the highway I’ll be on slicks when we get back haha. But if there’s ever a ride where it’s 80% dirt let me know or even a spot where I can meet you guys out there. I bought this just to ride on street legal forest roads. IRC ve33/35 tires on there way plus a 4gallon ims tank (plastic) big gun exhaust system removal pegs and taillight system etc. not gonna be a great highway cruiser in a couple weeks.

Finished some flood gates last night. This afternoon was the start of a fence with a door in it over a canal.

Got a call at 9:00 from a friend who is new to deer hunting needing help to process a nice buck he just took down. Super happy for him and mentored the gutting and skinning process with him. Took twice as long to do but what the hey, its good experience for him!

Good on you for giving him some knowledge

Lots of times we are so in a hurry to get something accomplished that we don't take the time to help someone out who may be eager to learn......I'm guilty of that. But the experience goes a long way and I know and practice that now.

I see the horns, but the majority or pickup drivers don't put horns on their trucks. Most of what I see are chrome plated balls.

    How big are it's balls?

Isn't that what really matters? Isn't it all about where the meat is made?

    The word is fluffy.

But, yeah, they're definitely different from what's in this area. Even traveling across the US, they are quite different. Out east, they are pretty darn small, then there's the mule deer out west. A lot of other variations between, as far as size and appearance.

The population density changes them quite a bit too. Places where there is very little hunting and no other forms of management, they are thin and stunted. Places like the edge of suburbs where some people think it's nice to feed them so they can watch them in their yards, have a population problem and sickly deer. There's also CWD (chronic wasting disease) in a lot of places and artificial feeding groups them together and spreads the disease.

I used to hunt, but don't have a large freezer for storage anymore. I still put out game cameras, just to see what's on the place. I've seen a couple nice ones come through this year. There's been more fox squirrels too, which seem to be moving back into the area.

They do have thicker winter coats, but absolutely are much heavier bodied than deer here. You can take a yearling whitetail from Texas, and stand it beside a yearling from Saskatchewan and the size difference is huge. Here in Oklahoma, a BIG doe is 125-150 lbs on the hoof. Up in Sask I wouldnt be surprised if a big doe was 175-200 lbs. Same with bucks, of course it depends if they've been corn fed from someone's feeder. That kinda throws things out of whack. But generally the further north you go, the larger the animals are compared to their southern counterparts. The extra mass holds heat better.

CWD is a big deal. I'm pretty sure they haven't had any cases in OK yet, but I know further east its pretty bad. Wisconsin is really hit hard.
