I make my living doing the tire work no one else wants. Trailers mowers and the working man's junk car. LOL!

There isn’t a lot of shops around here that want to screw with any off the wall tire work anymore all they want is the quick easy work. Especially if it’s a off road tire.

ANOTHER SUNDAY RACE REPORT


TEMPERATURE - Over 100, ie, "fkng hot", I have no idea how those Baja guys do this but I'm way impressed.

HOLESHOTS - 2 out of 4 starts. Both holeshots were in the same class which is the same class the photo above is from, from the last race with this club at this track.

CLASSES - I was thinking about racing 3 classes (6 motos) like I tried to do last time, but I am recovering from a 2 week long cold, plus it was blazing hot and I knew I would need all my energy if I was to be competitive in the 2 classes I signed up for because they have some of the fastest non "Super Pro" riders (Scott Burnwurth is a "Super Pro") in them.

The class I passed on was the most correct for my age and current skill level which they call "GP1 60+ intermediate open class" which means you can run any size bike in it that is 1980 or older. My 81 qualifies for this class because it is basically the same as the 80 model. The reason I passed on this class is because I was confident I would easily win it and wanted test myself by racing against better riders, all of whom are younger than I am, and some of them have newer bikes (up to 1986), and against more riders at a time.

FIRST CLASS - This one had the Super Pro's combined with it which included Scott Burnwurth, but the specific class I was in was scored separately from them. I got a crappy mid pack start and passed one guy whom was one of the faster non Super Pro's in the club, and this was enough to win this race in this particular class.

On the start of the second moto, my bike hooked up around 100 feet down the start straight and it nearly looped out, and while it was wheeling, it started drifting off to the side and almost ran into the guy next to me, whom fortunately backed off enough so we couldn't collide. I ended up in mid pack again because of this and got stuck behind a slightly slower rider because it was mostly a 1 line track due to their standard over watering of it and grading it too deep.

I was finally able to get by the slowpoke by cutting to the inside of him just a little then nailing it down the back stretch, which fortunately I am extremely fast on. It as a double jump near the end of it which I can jump over farther than anyone in this club, and actually clear it by enough that I land on the flat ground after it (which is a little hairy to do), then it has a big, banked, left hand sweeper immediately after the jump, so l held it on over the jump and was then even with him approaching the sweeper, and was also then going faster than he was.

I held it on longer than he did approaching the sweeper and I then had to drift into his line a little because the track was f'd up directly in front of me, and when I did this the whiner started yelling at me like a baby that just had it's sucker taken away does. I guess he didn't realize what the term "racing" meant and expected me to be courteous and simply follow his slow ass around the entire time...well, I'm pretty he sure he knows what the term means now. I won this race as well in my particular class so I won the overall with two 1st place finishes.


SECOND CLASS - This was the new class they call "CENTENARIAN", which name sounds odd and a little too fancy to me. I think they should simply call it "CENTURIAN" because it has that Roman warrior sound to it. Anyway, this class had the same fast non Super Pro rider the other class had whom I just beat, plus it had the reigning 60+ expert champion whom is also another one of the faster non Super Pro's in this club, and both of these guys are the ones that beat me in this race last time, although I still won my particular class.

Anyway, this one is simple, 2 holeshots and 2 wire to wire wins, however, it was not without something interesting. In the first moto, I had around a 50 foot lead the entire time and was going around 90% to reduce my chance of crashing. In the second moto I had around the same lead half way thru, then I started going a little faster hoping to discourage the 2 top guys in the race from trying to reel me in, and I kept hearing a 4 stroke somewhere behind me but I didn't know quite where he was and just figured that the nearest guy to me was one of the two fast riders.

Well, on the last 2 laps of the race, I realized that the guy on the 4 stroke was the one behind me and that I had pulled out a pretty big lead on the two fast guys I wanted to beat, but now this 4 stroke guy is actually making up time on me, so I changed my line in the last 2 turns and stuck to the inside just to insure he couldn't make a last turn pass on me, and I easily beat him to the line.

I slowed down right after the finish flag so I could see what type of super modified vintage 4 stroke he wad that could keep up with my Widowmaker, and when I saw it, it looked like it was some worn out 70's era Honda XL 200 or something, however the engine and suspension was modified. So my elation for beating the two fast guys on their highly competitive bikes, instantly turned into mild depression and discouragement after finding out I almost got beat by someone riding a friggen 40 + year old mid size 4 stroke that has less suspension travel than my bike does. Guess I better go practice some more.

So my elation for beating the two fast guys on their highly competitive bikes, instantly turned into mild depression and discouragement after finding out I almost got beat by someone riding a friggen 40 + year old mid size 4 stroke that has less suspension travel than my bike does. Guess I better go practice some more.

Normally I'd be content with second fastest anything, but the undisputed fastest guy in the club rode a single banger 650 BMW Adventure bike and was so fast in the corners that unless the next straightaway was at least 100 yards long I couldn't pass him!

I hear he has a little electric scooter now, so I'm avoiding him completely rather than risk going for a ride and having him pull away from me on my 900SS.

I know that feeling. In my street bike club I was regarded as the unofficially second fastest guy in any given situation. Much of this was attributable to my ridiculously overpowered liter bike. Normally I'd be content with second fastest anything, but the undisputed fastest guy in the club rode a single banger 650 BMW Adventure bike and was so fast in the corners that unless the next straightaway was at least 100 yards long I couldn't pass him!

I hear he has a little electric scooter now, so I'm avoiding him completely rather than risk going for a ride and having him pull away from me on my 900SS.

I watched dirt track racing (late models, sprints, street stock, IMCA mods) for many years and the 1 thing I learned in racing.....no matter how fast someone is, there is someone faster.

I never really messed with one but after the tech attempted his “fixes” at 500$ a pop it was time for me to fix.
For 20’ doors the springs massive.

Retensioned springs for motor balance and reset limit switches, all better

Sold the oliver oc3 crawler

One of my favorite implements is my drag, 8’ x 8’. Weight is around 300 pounds but when it digs in it is quite heavy



Flat ground the B16 has pulled it OK but turning was never ideal because the front and was a little bit light



I added 75 lbs to the front, 24” out and it still floats the front end but I unbalanced machine a bit. It couldn’t handle going uphill

She can dig! Sunk to the frame in 2nd quick!

There is hope for this generation in respect to good taste (although I was in the “country”)

Drove back and figured I tackle one of the dead oak trees near the new Sawmill site out in the back 40+

I prefer an axe for the exercise and I also like to hear the tree as it gives and comes down.

Bucking to 10’ or so for hauling and de-limbing , I’m all chainsaw.
Using my 4.5’ crosscut saws on the ground or swinging an axe toward myself=done with that

I then cut to firewood size with a crosscut, slow but = more double ipa in my future

Helped my son with a wood floor refinishing job today. First time for replacing damgaed boards all went well. We'll tack it tomorrow and put a coat of oil modified finish down.

Well. I worked this morning. Tonight I went to the horse track/casino. Every year they host Flat Track Canada race (Motorcycles) So my son and I went to see the races.
