    Ether, jumpbox and a prayer
Drove it out and onto trailer . The PO was 10y/o when his dad parked it. He was surprised

Got some blow-by but plenty of power

I’m still burning the original 26y/o diesel fuel, probably have to fuel it up tomorrow

Didn't happen today but last week........

Wanted to replace the headliner in the boy's car before he headed off to school.
It was held up with thumbtacks to keep it off his big ol' pumpkin-head.

changed the electric starter motor on my ‘90 arctic cat jag 340 deluxe.
probably would have been easier if I had taken the exhaust manifold off but instead I just disconnected the muffler (2 tight long springs, 4 tight small sprigs) and moved it out of the way as much as I could and had just enough space to get a box wrench on to the securing nuts, and for some reason the nut for the power cable was smaller. probably got a quarter turn at a time and had to flip the wrench I don’t know how many times. had just enough space to finesse the starter out and got the new one in. long springs were a pain to get back on, they had to stretch far while going under the muffler, impossible to use needle nose pliers, ended up using a piece of strong string about 2.5’ looped around the end of the spring and was able to pull it under and get it hooked on.
    Ingenuity.

This weekend is our annual cross country trip to Cuatro Cienigas.

Started out with our paramedic/paramechamic deciding that rather than ride in the big truck he’d rather drive his mini-monster truck.

I don’t think anyone other than him expected the truck to make it all the way and sure enough, 80 miles into the route he’d gone through all 4 of his spare tires and broke off two shocks. What finally stopped him was that all 6 studs on one axle stripped out and then broke off.

Then I seized my engine and one of the quads died, so at this point I’m not sure how we’re getting everyone home. There was talk last night of bolting a wheel onto the truck with nuts and bolts from a hardware store and driving it slowly to lessen the effect of what is sure to be an elliptical rotation, but given he’s out of spare rubber I don’t see him getting back under his own power.

Add desert heat and hangovers and it should be a memorable day.

More like “Llantas jodidas” Did you notice the Doppler reading aerials mounted up front?

The latest news is that they hired a flatbed to go pick it up and take it to a town where there’s s spare diff waiting. In other related news we just got word that some that was coming out today blew a trans. All we need now is a repeat of the 2016 lightning storm and this will be the most memorable event ever.

Update: The B team just pulled up with meat and liquid reinforcements

Everyone in the bar is invited to join hands as a high voltage charge is passed through the entire chain while they scream and yell. I have no idea why they do this, but it’s quite the rush.

Later they come along with an insecticide tank full of Tequila and put a sombrero on your head and spray free shots into your mouth.

    Viva Mexico

After 2 years of work my backyard deck is basically done. Pavers were much more difficult than I imagined. The roof over the deck has a ceiling fan mounted and lights around the perimeter. Roof is metal and the underside of the roof is finished in aluminum soffit to match the house. Could have been done quicker but my 3yr old apprentice helped quite a bit. Loved seeing her copy what I did and working with her. Best part was her trying to help compact the pavers on Saturday. There are a few small odds and ends to finish up but I’m calling it done. For now..... Before and after pic.
