    Yea, usually laying down in my line of work is a bad idea. Usually water/mud, #2 flowing past your toes, or it's at least an osha violation.

    The real reason to hydro-vac or hand dig.....eeek!

    I use an iPhone to take my pics and they are always sideways too. I convert them to "Paint" rotate them and resave them and all is good from there.

    Yea, hydro excavator is a back saver, and bank account saver for that part. We pot hole for utilities before any excavation, no matter how big or small the project. In all the years I've done this, I've hit a coaxial tv line, with a shovel, and got into a 6" gas main with a trencher, luckily the gas was a mess up on others, and I always take pictures before I put the bucket into the ground. Utilities can seriously injure you, or worse.
