One day I'm going to get a Treager. I've always wanted one but the cost throws me off. I know there are others less expensive and just as capable. .......maybe one of those

In theory the "Treager" is great cause you set it and forget it............but the hopper for the pellets goes bad and the pellets are pricey .........i like offset charcoal with wood smokers (don`t have one yet)..........what i have is a strait propane smoker cabinet and you need to check it every hour of cook time and you need to flip ribs and spray them down with apple juice .........for ribs you smoke 3hrs wrap them in sauce 1hour in regular oven ........how bout some pork belly burnt ends ?........gimme a hell yeah !

So we have a z grill, what I like is it’s ability to hold its temp. Pellets here are not that pricey no more than charcoal really. I do worry about the motor going out at some point. On this round we smoked pork spareribs two racks were st. Louis cut the other rack was a full slab. This size grill is capable of holding that much meat but has a hard time effectively smoking everything at the same temp when we have to use the top rack. 3 slabs of baby racks will fit on the bottom rack but not the spareribs.

Probably, but I’m a steel guy and we’re in an area that seems to harbor some nasty wood eating fungus. Some supposedly treated posts turn to dust in less than ten years. Even a few of the tar drenched rail ties in the area that made up most of the original corner posts are rotted out.

So the cure in my simple mind was 4” sq 1/8” wall painted steel tube sunk 3’ deep in concrete. I don’t want anyone saying I did a halfassed job 50 years from now.

It’s just to keep live stock (and yes, chupacabras) out. I was hoping the tight spacing at the bottom would keep my dog in, but after about 10 minutes he found a spot that he was able to squeeze through.
