    1984 Honda 200X Build

I just bought this 200x from a friend who also had intended for a project but after minimal work he lost interest. I happened to just bring it up and ended up purchasing it! obviously from the pictures show it is very rough in condition and I have already taken out the motor and started some disassembly. I have also started a list of what I need/would like and already purchased a number of parts. I know alot of the other members will see this and ask WHY?? well I enjoy challenges and although new to this forum I love projects like this. will keep updated with many pictures!Click image for larger version.

That's not a bad looking project. You're in good company here. There's been much more trashed trikes than that one that have been saved. Welcome.

thank you this seems to be a wealth of knowledge on here and don't get me wrong a nicer example would be more than welcome but prices are getting out of hand up here in maine. was hoping to get more progress done today but we just purchased the fiance a new car and she is reclaiming half of the garage so clean up duty for me today!

well now that the garage is all clean and I have my toys organized on "my side" of the garage I got to start back into the trike! motor is currently on my work bench and just a couple quick things that caught my eye were the one bolt and what appears to be wrong front sprocket retainer. the kick start spins freely not good I have heard... anyways what fun is it without a challenge and some learning experience. now onto the tank it doesn't appear to be terrible some light damage on each side which is to be expected, the inside doesn't look too bad but with this it will be my first tank "lining" so any help would be awesome!

Good start so far. Most trikes are worth saving. The prices are getting higher everywhere.

also a couple quick questions for anyone! does powder coating hold on up on engines? I have tried every paint imaginable and it all burns off after awhile even with proper prep work. any info or experience would be appreciated!

Welcome to the site. Here is an online manual also. www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals

You are making a great start on it. Heard good and bad about lining the tank. If it is not leaking I would just clean the inside.

awesome thanks for the link! tank doesn't look terrible on the inside and I have never personally tried the lining but I'll have to read up on it good and bad and maybe some other members will chime in!

also my parts have started to trickle in! clutch cable, throttle cable, adjustable on the fly clutch lever setup with polished handle and no parking brake junk! and a great condition OEM kick start lever which is missing the bolt so any info on size and thread pattern if anyone knows it off the top of there head would be great!

Sub'd! Just picked up a 200x as well and looking to tinker with her. Which foot boots did you buy on ebay? Only ones I can find are 80$!
