    Clutch 200x

Replaced 1984 200x clutch, finally getting better about letting me engage 1st gear. Is there some secret for it to engage 1st gear after new install? Used a Barnett HD clutch new fiber and steel rings and HD springs..

If the idle is set to high it will bang into first gear. If you slow down the idle speed on the side of the carburetor it will engage smoothly.

Greenhaze, it chatters when put in first, will engage sometimes mostly use 2nd. I assume previous owner bent this and it's affecting 1st gear.

Sounds like you may possibly have a bent shift fork within the transmission.

Yea hate to say it but it's probably time to split the cases and take a look at the transmission. Also get a new arm, that looks bent, you may be wearing out the new clutch you put in.
