    1984 250r axle nut

hey I removed the axle nuts from my 84 r but I had to cut a groove in them and chisel turn them. I bought used ones off of ebay but they are .1mm smaller in diameter on the inside than the old ones so they will not work. I looked on rocky mountain and they say there are two different part numbers based on the serial number and the serial on mine is the one you cant buy. does that mean there are two different sizes? I wanted to know if anybody had the same problem and if there is a different bike axle nut that worked for them. thank you in advance for any help.

I'm sure the ones listed in my crooked pic above fit the machines listed. Was the seller parting out a 84 250r? You may have gotten(bought) ones from a different bike. I know my old suzuki has jam nuts but they were just a hair smaller than the honda ones.
The ones in the pic are extra ones from an 84 250r axle. There willing to travel, let me know.

there is 2 different axles in 83 and 84 atc250rs. There is ~1mm difference between them. I bought some years ago, they were too big. I had another set that fit it.

Sheep the guy parting it out said they were off a 250r, but I did check the parts list for this bike and there are two different sizes so I must have the bigger one. The ones I got were 31mm on the inside and the ones on the trike were 32mm so deathman is right about the size difference. If yours are 32 I would love to get them from you! And by the way it did stop raining after we got 7 or 8 inches!

I know one of the yr 83 or 84 250r's has a 2" sleeve this axle does not. So if yours does its different i guess.

I know the early honda quads and most trikes have the same size axle jam nuts. With the exception of the 70 and 86 and up 200x,85 and up 350x and 250r.

Well I am going to try a trx300 axle nut and see if it works I found out that it has a nut that is 32mm 1.0 pitch. I know the pitch on my axle is 1.0 and the inside diameter of the old nut is within tenths of 32mm so I am going to give it a educated guess and buy one. I'll let you know if it works. If anybody has a different idea chime in.
