5 Year Member, New Poster, First build 84 ATC 70

    Hello Everyone,

First off I want to start by saying thanks to everyone on this board and site. 5 years of reading and learning helped a great deal in purchasing my first build a 1984 ATC 70.

Southern boy from the same town as my distant cousin Ed "bebe" Orgeron the current coach of our LSU Tigers. I had been wanting to find and build a custom ATC 70 for quite a while now. The situation finally became right and I found a great deal (great to me) in Louisiana within a short hour drive. I have loved this board and it feels great finally being able to make a post and be a part of the group. Here is a picture of my new project. It came with another set of tires and rims as well as some used and abused rear fenders and a front fender.

    Thanks again guys and gals.

I miss coach "O" out here on the west coast. I was very disappointed when he didn't get the USC job. He is a great coach.

It's hard to tell from the pics but lay a strait edge on top of the frame back bone to see if its bent or not. Most of them are, and they are easy to fix. If you leave them bent the fender will rub on the front of the engine.

Thanks Bob Marlin, it was actually cool seeing him coach close by at Ole Miss for a while. We lucky to have him.

I actually have it braced up with a bottle jack currently, slowly adding pressure. I had read to go a little over the level so that it actually has a little of a U bend in it. Would you recommend doing that?

I've always just taken them till they were as strait as I could get it. Sometimes they end up a bit "over straitened" I guess.

Got it all apart and down to the frame. Only thing sticking me is the front hub bearings. They not budging, I may need to get a blind bearing puller or something on them.

The frame has some side damage on the rear grab bar bolt area, I will have to heat and flex out.
