Trikefest Moto Cross will be held on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Haspin Acres in Laurel, IN.
Riders meeting at NOON, with racing to follow shortly.
The track will be open to practice all morning and hopefully all week prior to the race.
Provided it is still there, we will be using the same small TT-style track as we have used the past 2 years.
There is no entry fee.
SIGN-UPS WILL CLOSE Thursday evening (June 22).
Advanced on-line sign up may be done in this thread and is encouraged.
Change #1 for 2017: As the time gets closer, I will post specific instructions as to where and when to find me to sign up at TrikeFest. Sign-ups will definitely be open during the Devil’s Backbone Hillclimb competition on Thursday. I’ll also reserve some time (directly after the hillclimb??) in the snack shop at the office on Thursday. Look for postings on (white board or chalkboard at TrikeFest) for more details.
As with 2016, each class will only run once.
The 2-stroke classes listed are based more on rider ability than the machines. The intention is to place you on the track with other riders of similar skill level, for competitive and fun racing. If you have a question as to what class you belong in, please don't be afraid to ask.
As always, we will need volunteers to flag on jumps and corners. Please help out by flagging a few races if you can. Nobody wants to be out there all day, so the more people, the better.
Number of laps will be discussed and determined at the riders meeting. Weather and the length of the track will be two of the determining factors.
There are still 13 classes from which to choose.
This lineup is not a race order - merely a listing of all classes available for entry. We will make every attempt to ensure that you do not have to run back to back if you enter more than one class.
Unlimited Open Expert - No limitations on displacement or mods. Run what you brung. Expert riders with extensive MX experience ONLY!
2-Stroke Expert (A class) - Expert only class for vintage trikes. No inverts, no 450 conversions.

Post any questions you have about classes in this thread.
Both new rules from 2016 remain:
1. Protective gear: Full face helmets are required for MX. No sneakers or gym shoes!
2. Number plates are required. Does not need to be fancy, but paper plates are no longer permitted.
Two new rules for 2017:
For the first time, there will be a 2 point tech inspection before MX.
There will be a station set up on the trail before the track. I expect the tech inspection will take ~30 seconds to a minute.
1. Checking all axle nuts for cotter pins. Split pins and slip pins work the best. Safety wire is acceptable - although not ideal. Please!! no bent over nails.
2. Working brakes – enough said.
Kintore will be handling tech inspection duties. Your trike will be tagged that it has been inspected. On race day, you will not be allowed on the track without the tag. You will also receive a reminder that there will be a tether kill switch rule in 2018. This won’t apply to all trikes, but we’ll get into that later. I expect that the tech inspection station will be set up around 10am (Kintore, please reply in this thread to confirm).
Protective eyewear, long sleeves, long pants, chest protector, riding boots, gloves, and tether kill switch are not yet required but are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
ONLINE SIGN UP IS NOW CLOSED as of 6/20 12:17pm EDT.
