over sized rings in standard piston
Hey everyone I'm trying to put a top end in a motor on a budget
My ring end gap is .38 . So I guess what my question is . Can I put over sized rings in a standard piston? My piston fits good . No piston slap that I can hear . Thanks in advance for your time . You can text. 7753857645

The short answer is no. The longer answer is not without filing down the end gaps. The oversize rings have a bigger diameter, which means that they also have a bigger circumference, which means that if you measured around the outside, they are longer than standard sized rings. To put longer rings in a hole that is sized for standard rings, you would have to "collapse" them far enough that the ends would overlap and would not fit in the ring grooves on the piston. If the piston fits the bore fine, use the right size rings for the piston. Also, watch the ring thickness. My experience is with Yamaha. The factory rings are thicker than Wiseco rings. If you have a Honda piston, then you should find some Honda rings for it.
