Cool 84 200 es cdi issues?

    Good afternoon!

I am in the process of rebuilding a 1984 Honda 200es I recently purchased.

Ran across something odd and wanted to see if anyone had some insight for me.
For some reason when I press the start button nothing happens, yet if I unplug the CDI box and try it the starter will then spin.

For some reason its like the CDI is cutting the signal to the starter.

Is this a bad CDI box? it sure looks brand new.

    Any advice would be great.

    thanks

    Nate

Can you find another one that's known to be good? you could install it to see what happens.

I will try that, I have seen some cdi's that are not very expensive that are new.

I was not sure if a cdi for a 200 and a 200es were interchangeable.

    thanks for the response!

I assume that your trike is in neutral when you try to start it. If not, the neutral safety switch will prevent it from starting.

Thanks for the replies, found the problem / problems out.

Previous owner tried to "fix" it didn't do a very good job.
Indicator bulbs had been removed and an incorrect CDI was put in.

I replaced the cdi with the correct one (ebay find) and we are all good!
