I meant the rotor cap and timing cap on the side case. Not the valve covers. Looks like giant flat head screw driver bolts lol. I honestly skipped finding the t spot and just wiggled the rocker arm while moving the kicker till I felt some play.

If their stuck I use a small punch to tap it loose .

Another method I use is to remove the spark plug , insert a long screw driver in the plug hole and put the piston at TDC also making sure the cam lobes are pointed down and then your good to adjust the valves .

there is a certain size washer that fits perfectly in the slot, you can just stick screwdriver through the hole and turn it

I've run into further issues after valve adjustment. Thought I had them right on the button, for I started it and ran it for a little and heard zero chatter from the top end. Gauged both intake and exhaust at .003". It didn't make any noise till later in the day I started it again and let it idle for about 5 minutes when all of a sudden the top end chatter returned just like that out of nowhere. It's torn back down now, any suggestions?
