    1985 350x Refresh (Rider)

Well like so many stories go,, I picked up another 85 350x and am going to put some lite refreshing into it. The gentleman I bought it from had had it since 89, bought the 250R rims off a pallet of ATC stuff after the ban from his local honda dealer. Trike runs and shifts. Seller included what looks like a brand new oem carb, a nice front brake caliper, hose, and master cylinder, 2 emgo oil filters, the orginal front Enkei rim(sadly he could not find the rears) and a welded up oem grab bar. The 350x was just sitting in the corner of his shop, looking all tired. While speaking with the gentleman he mentioned he didn't know anyone knew what "these"(3 wheelers) were anymore. I told him that there was still indeed people out there that enjoy them. We chatted for a while, I took it out for a rip and when I got back he said he wanted to ride it. I was thinking as he was riding, jeez I hope he doesn't have sellers remorse becuase he looked to be having some easy fun on it. Anyways, 10 C-Notes an hour and fifteen minutes later I was back to the house unloading it.

Thank you Cody. Yes sir I did find it out this way, in the town of Kilgore. About an hour and fifteen minutes from my house. I loaded the family up and away we went. I'm liking the Oldie Goldie look too!

So it has no front brakes. The front master cylinder, brake caliper and hose that are on it are in pretty bad shape. I will use the nicer oem one that I got from the seller, however on this one too just like the one that is on bike, the piston is seized in the master cylinder. A rebuild is in order on both those!

I didn't bother rebuilding the master. Mine has a 400EX or 450R front master on it now. They're cheap and plentiful.

I found if the plastic coating on the hose is broken or gone it tends to rub on the tire when the suspension compresses.
I "restored" my front brake line (copying someone else's idea) by:
    - chipping all the old crap off the line
    - splitting some plastic ice maker line from Home depot and sliding it over the hose
    - wrapping the whole thing with clear shrink tube

You can kind of see it in these pictures.

Somebody was making a very nice reproduction hose with correct silicon ends, etc, if you want to go that route. It's gorgeous.

Yeah I figured since I had the master cylinder already I would just rebuild it since OEM parts are still up for grabs. With the piston already out it should be straight forward.
Thank you for the pictures of your 350x. It looks good! I like how the hose turned out! I did pick up one of the repop hoses but after reading on Onetrackminds recent post on his 250r I am going into it skeptical.

I'll double down on the 400ex master. Cheap easy to find new from Honda. And has more pressure than OEM. I went with a HEL line. Brakes are as good as a 450r now.

Wow...that axle is way out. What does the other side look like? Is it even through the hub?
