    Aftermarket clutch shoes issue

I took apart my ATC today to fix the clutch. Was trying to sand down the clutch shoes a bit to clearance the centrifugal clutch drum. It worked but is still dragging. I am wondering if it is possible that the drum could be warped a little? Also, the shoes are not even all around. See pics below. There is way more clearance between one end of the shoe, and none at the other end. Is this normal? Or could the aftermarket shoes be shaped a little different causing this?

    Thanks

So I found the old OEM shoes and put them on the hub to compare. Looks like the new aftermarket shoes are shaped a little different. I am thinking of trying to modify the clutch shoes where they are a little too tall. Thinking of just using a file to get them even. Anyone have any thoughts on this or experience doing this? Attached pics of what I am refering too.

    .
If the drum is warped you should correct that first.

The shoes pivot on one end so ideally they should be cam ground so the entire shoe makes contact with the drum when they are opened. I don't know if the factory ones are or not. It would be difficult to grind or file them by hand so they fit like they are cam ground but if there are high spots on them you can file them down a little but its easy to mess them up.

@ barnboy: I think you have the right idea. To me, the free end of the shoe isn't being allowed to move close enough to the hub due to the shape difference. Your pictures show the difference between OEM and aftermarket pretty clearly. If it were mine, I'd do just as you are thinking and grind a radius into that flat section so that the spring can pull the free end of the shoe closer to the hub.

I filed them down today and I think I got it. Should have enough clearance now.
