    2017 Moose Hunt

To summarize we're eating tag soup this year :-( Only one cow and two calves spotted all week. We faced weird conditions this year with not enough water level for us to canoe our regular routes. We were only able to paddle/pull up river 5-6 kms then sit and reverse the trip at the end of the day, not our idea of fun! The exposed river banks also allow the wolves, which we heard nightly around our camp, to travel freely and harass the moose constantly driving them away from the river. On the plus, it's remote country with nice scenery with no cell reception whatsoever for a week. I found a wolf skull which could be considered a bonus!

Why were the rivers so low? Great pictures. I would like to visit that area some day.

That's a good question since the rest of the province seems to have an abundance of water; we're we ever surprised! At least it keeps the jet boats parked. The local native hunters were running the banks with ATV's which is a first for us in 20 years of going there. They took a cow a km from our camp a day before we got there.

Cool pics. There were two Moose killed couple miles from my house both hit by cars couple weeks ago. I don't think we have a Moose season here in Northern NY.But there are getting to be a lot more Mosse sitings every year.

That sounds like more of an issue for the population than the wolves.

There's usually lots to go around. We've only been skunked 3 times in 20 years, not too bad I guess.
