x-rider’s 250# Blue Marlin catch and release

Caught off the beautiful big island of Hawaii. Only a couple of pics for now until I upload some of the videos to YouTube. Sorry no video of it flying out of the water 6-8’, but I can tell you it was amazing. Check another one off the bucket list for x-rider. We also caught a small yellowfin tuna we enjoyed for dinner. So tasty!!! Enjoy.

    Awsome job !.
I started marlin fishing 30 years ago and got addicted to it. Went to Hawaii 3 times to catch one and wiffed each time. Then took one trip to Cabo and hooked up in the first 15 min. Never went back to Hawaii and started fishing mexico as much as I could over the next 27 years. I have had multiple 5 marlin days there and have seen schools of them that would cover a football field. The east cape area of Baja has to be one of the best places in the world to marlin fish.

Awesome for you too. This was my second marlin trip. The first was off the island of Oahu. 7 people on the boat. We drew cards for seat order. My buddy and I drew 6&7. We only caught 4 dorado, so we did not even get a chance. This trip was more enjoyable because it was just our family on the boat, even at that we only caught the two fish and enjoyed an hour of snorkeling as well.

There is some quality fishing to be had on the "East Cape"
    #360 Blue Marlin

Before anyone gives me any crap, it died during the fight. Its the consiquences of using lighter tackle or some times live bait.

Those marlin are gorgeous. I dont know anything about them, they dont eat good? We we're fishing for grouper in the gulf of Mexico and s shark kept eating the grouper as we were reeling then up. The captain set up a heavy rod with with some bait and after about 10 minutes that took it. It was an awesome fight, when we got it in the boat it was really scary because it took up so much room and was PISSED! We released this one too, i guess mako are the only sharks that taste good. I'm the one with the hat

Marlin are good eating when they are under 200 lbs. The bigger ones are tough and taste like mud. Most people release them if they are in good shape after the fight.
As for sharks, Thresher shark is the best for eating. Mako is also really good.
