    Clogged carb , bad jets, improper jetting, fouled plug , bad reefs, dirty air filter , I’d start with the easy stuff. New plug and disassemble the carb and clean it. Clean filter while your there. See what happens.

    Check airflow. Make sure the intake is clear.

    Heard a tail of a mouse nest in the exhaust restricting flow. Engine is just a air pump.

    There are many reasons why this could be. Are you a new owner of this bike or have you owned it and you changed something and now it acts like this?

    How did your reeds look? Those are typically cheep if the look worn or have frayed edges I’d swap em out. Make sure your jets are clean and your fuel to oil mixture is correct.

    @truckerlump

    You are going to get a lot of good advice here...the more you become familiar with your trike, the better troubleshooting will be. Personally, whenever I get any used motor, whether it's a vehicle, boat or trike, regardless of what the previous owner had said he had done to it, I will always go through basic maintenance to alleviate any unknowns (clean the carb, change the oil, filter, etc.). For now, it starts so that is a good thing, but go through the basics and this should point you in the right direction.
