I know. You completely missed my point. I'm talking about any job you do. That filthy, rusty ,nasty shaft in your pic, could be a clean, shiny ,greased shaft in a matter of minutes. Attention to details is what sets good work apart from art,and decent work apart from a mess.

    Bought from NAPA, never fails.
In the correct application it even saves a seal.

I did what you guys said and ended up with the same result. I cleaned the shaft, oiled the new seal and case surface and went EXTRA slow and careful using a deep socket and light taps to keep the seal going in even. The rubber on the outside of the seal peeled back all the way around. I ordered this seal from a different place with the same dimensions. Any suggestions?

You could use a butane torch and heat the case up around the hole.

Maybe freeze the seal and heat the case?

That is a rough engine It looks like the case is cracked at 7 or 8 o clock in pic 2. It may very well be sealed the way it is?

It is a rough engine externally. The stator cover has chain whack and has been JB welded. The case itself has no cracks, though.

I just ruined another seal, the fourth one so far. I just dont see how these are ever going to fit. You can see how they get pinched the whole way around going in. I only put this one 1/3 the way in before it ripped. I used a file to smooth the entire edge of the case, used lots of grease and froze the seal before trying to put it in. Here is the link to what I bought.
