    Honda 200s hi/lo conversion.

Hey guys I have a quick question, I have a 1985 honda 200s and I have the chance to pick up the motor out of a 200e for a good price. Thinking of picking it up for parts anyway but this motor has the hi/low sub trans and I want to know if that will bolt right up to my 200s? I would love to have high and low on my 200s if its an easy swap. Looked for a thread on this and couldnt find it.

I dont think it can be done. Not 100% sure but the countershaft is different I think.

I believe you can swap the entire engine, but you can not swap the hi/low range sub transmission between engines without splitting the bottom end and swapping the entire transmission.

If you swap the engine, you will need to notch the down tube on the frame to clear the electric starter. You can probably put your 200s top end on the 200e motor.

Thanks for all the input. I saw the complete motor swaps where you notch the down tube. Don't feel like bothering with a whole motor swap because swapping to electric start seems like a pain with wiring and mounting a battery etc. just seems like a lot of work when 1 or 2 pulls does the trick. To bad its not just a bolt on addition cause I would love to have high and low range for the winters.
