    New from West Viginia

Hello everyone. I'm new to the forum but not three wheelers. I recently bought the mother of all project three wheelers and wasn't really sure of what model it was. I knew it to be a Yamaha. After searching the internet, I found this site as well as the info on which model I believe it to be. I believe it to be a 1984 YTM 200L. I bought it last night off a friend who does those storage auctions for $40. Its been completely dismantled. The motor is off the frame, (luckily it turns over) I'm getting it later today because they had it stored at their home and not the store. Also getting the rear rims as well. The tank plastic is missing and the seat/rear fender plastic is in really bad shape as well as the front fender. Not sure if it was worth $40. Any info on what model it is and where I can parts for it. My friend always gets atv parts in and told me that any three wheeler parts he gets in, I get first dibs.

Also if this is a 200L it would be awesome due to the fact that the first atv I ever rode was a 200L and made me fall in love with three wheelers. Plans are to get it back to riding and running order. Only other thing I plan to do is put led headlight and tail lights on it.

$40? That's the way I like to buy them. The challenge to bringing them back to life with $room$ to spare is great.
I don't know a thing about Yammers but I wish you well with yours.

    Welcome to 3WW!

Here are links to service manuals which might help you piece it all back together

    How to tell if it's a 200L......

    http://www.3wheelerworld.com/showthread.php?t=132415

As for parts, figure out what you are missing and you have three options:

    1) since you can't get in classifieds yet, post a want to buy thread in new member discussion for the parts you need

    2) eBay....love it or hate it, it's still the best collection of obscure trike parts for sale in one location.

EDIT: I removed those links see below

    3) some OEM stuff is still available so check with some Yamaha OEM parts distributors

    4) Facebook trike pages. I'm not an FB user however I've heard alot of trike parts get bought and sold there. Buyer beware, though.

Are those blue fenders under all that paint?

Most YTM200s are yellow. I think the blue ones are much more rare.

It was originally blue and I plan to keep it blue unless I get bored and a paint it more to my tastes. Thinking of doing the frame purple and the body white with pink and purple accents.

i know this is a bit old but was never answered completely. that is a 1984 YTM200L. vins that start with 21V and are between 100101 and 160100 are the 200L seeing this one is 21V-102796 its a fairly early 84 200L. theres a lot to be done but I say 40 bucks was a steal especially if your looking for a project.
