    $100.00 score

I picked up 2 trikes today for $100.00! I’m not sure if the years but the Kawasaki is a 250cc and the atc 70 is an early 70s model. The 70 is missing the fuel tank and grab bar but the fenders are not bad, it came with a carb and air box and engine.

When I get time to make room for the Kawasaki I’ll pull it out of the truck and get some pics. I’m gonna try to get the 70 running by Christmas!

Anyone here have parts for the atc 70? I need the rear cover plate, grab bar, fuel tank and not sure what else right now...

The 70's get addicting. They are getting very expensive to buy complete. There is a lot of engine options to replace the original. There is a lot of Honda "clones" of that engine that will bolt right in with little or no modification. The whole china quad market helped with that. I have direct bolted up to a 110cc engines into them. Most of the frames are bent along the back bone, but are super easy to fix with a bottle jack. The gas tanks are mostly all junk because of rust, but there are plastic ones available but Ive only seen red ones. You are lucky to have the rear fenders as the older 2 piece ones are hard to find.

If that recoil starter fits and is functional take good care of it. It seems to be the number one thing that is missing on all the 70's I see and can be hard and pricey to replace.

That 70 will be worth quite a bit more than the Kawasaki when fixed up.

You can buy fiberglass rear cover for 50 bucks and I also aftermarket rear grab bars if i remember right also around 50 bucks. The hard to find parts are the foot prg guards....hard to find and expensive. Fun bikes and as was stated very addicting.

    Excellent.
That is a nice score for those 2 bikes.
I remember seeing a re-pop of the back cover in metal but I can't find it at the moment, but this guy makes them in carbon fiber and they look pretty cool:

That is the same design as an old Greeves 250 Motocrosser had that I used to ride. It is referred to as a leading link.

I had around a bazillion hours of testing time on those KLT's, and I can tell you from first hand experience that they will in fact float.

    1. Around 1982/1983.

    2. I saw a small ad Kawasaki had placed in the Cycle News Magazine and was living just a few miles away from them at the time, so I called them up and they had someone call me back for an initial interview, after which they had me do two other interviews and also go out to Saddleback Park with the other few final "contestants" for the job and ride an ill handling KX500 on the track and give our opinion of what was wrong with it and what was needed to improve it so they could assess which of us was best at that aspect of the job. They had a boatload of people apply for that job so the entire process took a while.

    3. If I recall correctly it was a KX250.
