    Atc 200 clutch and springs

I put a new set of clutches and springs in my 200 and now it is tight shifting and it wasnt before. I tried to adjust the clutch adjuster many times. Any ideas? It seems like it shifts only when the rpms are way low. Must be something simple because it shifted great right before i did the job. Any ideas would be great!!

Did you follow the manual to adjust the clutch?

you might need to take the side cover back off the last time I changed the clutch on my 200 the arm that adjusts the clutch got stuck and I had to disassemble the arm and put it back together.

The only thing you can do it take it back apart and make sure you put it together correctly. You'll have to disassemble it to find the problem no matter what.

Secret tip: lightly grease both sides of your gasket before you reassemble. The gasket won't stick to the mating parts and rip when you have to take it apart. I would only reuse a gasket 2-3 times with this method tho

If the springs were heavy duty it will be much harder to shift than the stock springs but you will have a much more positive shift with no slip .
A good synthetic atv oil with help some as well .

Does moving the adjuster change anything? I agree your going to have to disassemble and see whats going on. like 86125m said check the adjuster arm and make sure its in good condition and moves freely and take care everything is lined up and in position when you reassemble the cover.

I had this problem with my ATC200M after I put a new clutch in it. Turned out that the cent. clutch shoes were too tight in the drum because the new linings were a bit too thick. I lightly sanded down the lining until the drum turned freely without dragging on the shoes and it was good to go. Shifts good and throttle response is instant, no slipping.

Uh, I think they were from GH Discount ATV. It was a combination of thicker linings and using a spare drum I had that didnt have any grooves in it. I ended up using the original grooved drum again, and the thicker linings sanded down fit nicely inside the grooved drum. Now it doesent stall or creep when put in gear.
