that has one offset rim for the brake drum correct? I had spider-tracs on my 86 big red and I loved them. When I first got it it had those tires I forget their name but they look kinda like old Humvee tires with squiggly lines in the center and side lugs. they sucked but were thick and held air lol.

I think those were Dick Cepek Buckshot mudders. I had a set on my 250sx. Good for sliding.

For a 2nd gen big red I would try to find some Honda 12 inch rims for an sra foreman 450 or something like that. Then I really like the GBC dirt commander but they are 8 ply so you would have to run them with like 2 psi to not ride rough. GBC has a 25x12 inch in a 8 and 10 inch wide tire.

I just have the stock rims but I have carlisle strykers on my trike and they are holding air great with good treads, they even hold air on the old beat up front rim that was totally messed.

Rear Rim and Tire Recommendation for 85 Big Red

Depends on what you do with the machine but in the rocky New Hampshire mountains you'd be hard pressed to beat the Cheng Shin knobbie. Great shock absoption as well as traction in mud and they're great in the snow.

I ended up buying an ITP steel wheel to replace one of my stock rims that was bashed to crap on one of my 250ES'. The ITP rim is garbage. The tire won't stay seated unless it's over-inflated!

Good to know... I would like to replace the OEM steel rim. I have a set of vintage aluminum rims (stamped 3-10-90) BUT... they are a 8" wide, 10" dia. rim. Stock is 9"wide, 9" dia. rim. If stock tire is 25x12-9, should I run a 25X11-10 on those aluminum rims? I know some aftermarket tires were 25x13-9 or 25-12.5-9 and work on the OEM rim. Figure if the rims are an inch narrower, I should get a tire an inch narrower?

Looking at this tire for the rear of my Big Red on the aluminum NOS G.B.C. rims (large bell 4-110 8" by 10" dia 3+5 off set Korea manu. date 3-10-90) I figure rim is an inch narrower, so go an inch narrower on tire???

I think they sell a 25x12-10 too. What do you all think???

Want to pull the trigger on this.... I see there is one application where a Polaris uses a 10x8 rim with a 25x12-10 tire... the rest run a 25x11-10 for a rear tire with that 10x8 rim. What do you/anyone Bueller? think???

Rough ride on that buffalo. A large part of the suspension of that machine is in the tire. If you're gonna ride it hard, you should look into a 2-ply tire. Also, you're gonna have a tough time sliding those things.

Didn't think about that part... Looking for traction for snow plowing. Low speed work machine, putt around with the kids.... I was thinking 6 ply less flats/longer lasting. Though... I got the 350X and 250R for suspension. I'm curious about which width to order.
