Ok so after reading every rear brake mod i could find i decided to document what i did for my restore. I apologize a head of time for the quality of this post. It's really my first one.
- I found out that any KX85 rear caliper from 2004 -2014 is a direct bolt on replacement for both your front and back caliper 83 or 84 atc250r!
- Also found out that I could simply just make my own bracket and use the front master cylinder from the same years as well!
- That makes it a Nissin brake system from the master to the caliper! Plus for around $85 you can get one as new as say 2010! That is what I did
- I then purchased a +2 Gafler stainless brake line for $33 on eBay brand new.
- The bracket in the pictures below is a prototype that is fully functioning. I intend to make a duplicate that looks nicer.
FRONT MASTER MOUNTING BRACKET
Step one:
- Grind, cut, trace, drill & scratch head until i had the basic correct shape and mount points.
- Buy two bushings to use as spacers
- Buy two 1.5" M6 screws with washers and self locking nuts
Step two Bolt that damn thing to da bike. More pictures in my photo Album's as well.
Rear caliper install pictures and notes to come. Plus all other mods i am doing on his build.
