Thank's, It's like sand only made of frozen water. Colder but just as much fun.

Thank you. I am going to revisit Red Rider's concern about the weld looking thin.
Im going to lay another bead with a mig and leave it unground. The skid plate should cover most of it.

Remember not to make it too “nice” or you wont want to get it dirty. Looking good just lay another bead on there it’ll be easier now. Nevermind u are

Yeah, you guys in California run across some nice parts.
I believe this frame will do for me, it's pretty good in all other respects.

Well it seems I have an unmolested stator side but are the poles on the bottom fried or just covered?
They appear to be wrapped in something.

Exactly! Great Shep, I'll keep trucking with this one.
I was just wondering because in my experience copper is good , black is bad.

The black and copper poles are two different circuits. I'm thinking the black is the ignition circuit and copper is lighting. Keep up the good work.

Ok, that would explain the two connectors leading out. Thanks.

I think I'm happy with the re-weld. That makes three things I found I'm delusional into thinking I can do.
Body work, drywall finishing and grinding weld. I just don't know when to stop until I go too far

I found some tank shrouds that were in very rough shape. They came from two different machines. One was painted twice and the other was baked by the sun.

I decided to try to save them and some money. So I tested my body work skills and came up with this so far.

This is the first sanding and it's convinced me that these are salvageable for a rider. Next is a finish sanding and polish. Then the headlight which came on the machine but is just as rough.
    Man are they baked.
This is a picture of the frame so far.
