Just look at the way the drum brake seals. If you can see a drum spin, it should fit the 85. If the drum is in a sealed housing, that's 86/87 style...

Thanks DC they are both definitely the ones with spinning drums but wasn't sure if they'd be the same width or possibly different hub spline. Buddies parts trike isn't easily accessible so wanted to find out for sure before I make the trec. Tried even researching on ebay but all the 85 big red listed just show BR specific no mention of BR and sx. Hoping to hear from someone that would know for sure.

Have you checked part numbers? I have a couple 85 rear axles if it doesn't work out.
