1983 YTM 200k not getting fuel

I recently got a 1983 YTM200k that has been sitting in a barn for about 10 years. I checked to see if it has spark and it is good, it has a lot of compression so next I pulled the carb off and cleaned it. The float moves, the needle seats, both the pilot jet and main jet is clear, it should be good to go. So I hooked the carb up to a makeshift gas tank just to get it running and fuel goes into the bowl of the carb like it should. But the engine seems like it's not getting any fuel. If I spray some ether or gas through the intake it will fire and run for a little bit so the timing is not off but it will not pull gas through the carb into the enigne. The intake boot is very dry rotted and cracked but I tried to tape it up for now just to get it running. Why is it not getting fuel into the engine.

Did you try spraying carb cleaner through the fuel inlet? I have seen this clogged and no fuel going through. This is the place that your fuel line hooks to the carb.
