    New junk hauler

Dropped a deposit on an old truck(1999). It may even make some side money hauling stuff for people that need it. 8000lb boom crane(close in) at 21’ it lifts about 2000, and 2000lb liftgate. Needs a break line and some “decrusting” as it has seen a fair share of salt. 115k miles 6cy 3126 cat( runs
Great, not my 1st choice for an engine) gvwr 25950, 6 sp manual.

On the “more good news front” I may have a donated case crawler w drott and backhoe coming my way for “get it running and it is yours” price

Lmfao. It must be registered commercial but a CDL is not required. DOT card is a requirement. Don't forget your fire extinguisher, chock blocks, first aid kit, and spare fuses (all required). Nice score!

Thx guys. Fabio, I can’t find anything on dot card requirements under cdl weight. Easy enough to do I guess. Is it needed at the time for registration?

DOT card is technically required in any vehicle registered commercially over 10k GVW. It is not required at the time of registration. The only time you would ever be asked for it is if you were stopped by the police or pulled into a weigh station.

Aren't the TARE and GVWR amounts required to be on the doors?

Yes. He said in the first post what the GVW is, which is a hair under 26,000 lbs. The reason why it's a hair under 26,000 lbs is because it's intended to be driven by a non-CDL driver, as over 26k requires a CDL.

Inside the drivers door jamb.....but they have to pull you over to find out

In Indiana I drove a Freightliner FL60 boxtruck that was just shy of 26K and I was required to have what they called a Commercial Chauffeurs license to operate. They didn't require a DOT physical back in 2002 for those but I quit quit driving when they went to the FL70 which had airbrakes and was over the weight limit and I was then required to get a CDL to drive that model. Which I declined.

Don't pass up a weigh station in a commercial truck like that or they'll come get you. I always got waved thru anyway but the minute you don't swing right, they'll flag you.

DOT cops have pulled me over a few times too and the first thing they asked is where your license is and then they opened the door to see the weight tag before proceeding any further.

Your DOT numbers were required to be on the drivers door or else you must put "Not for Hire" in it's place if it's NOT a commercial vehicle.

Again this was in Indiana in 2002 so it might be different now/in a different state

    Great info ironchop also
I won’t pass a station. As I rolled this into my wife’s llc I will be for hire. I’ve never had to order brake lines (solid) on a c6500. Maybe easier to make my own?
I hope to get it delivered next week, pics to follow

Need a bigger tow truck, lol. Towed because it's not inspected/plated, or is it not road worthy due to brake lines?
