1983 Honda atc 185s TT special for 2018 NEEDT season

Hey guys. Been a long time since I posted on here. Want to get back to my roots and frequent here more often.

Anyways. Tim Keister and I decided to build some flattrack trikes for the 2018 open am season in NEEDT. After our success in stock class last year we decided to go big.

    Parts list as follows...
Dodge challenger lime green for paint
Blueline graphics custom oem decal kit
    18 front tire
    16 rears
Honda ape tank for for extra and a obscene amount of steering lock
Drilled and tapped exhaust valve cover for venting
Some Big als goodies. Pegs. Case saver. Bolt kit
Full Halls motor build. Cam. Piston. Porting, valves etc
    Carb
    Dg exhaust
    Plus 6 NASA axle
    Disc brake conversion on rear
    Fiberglass fenders
    She drinks straight vp110

We shaved 40 plus pounds of this. It weighs in at 243 full of fluid. We have yet to line them up, but we are in 350x power territory for sure. They are wild fast!

Should be a great season with great friends!

    Great to see you back

    Very nice build

On the valve cover vent mod..... does this help keep oil from pushing thru the valve seals or what's the scoop?

The idea behind the vent is to make sure no pressure builds up and can't escape. If pressure does build up it doesn't have to travel all the way down the timing chain and out the crank vent. Newer motors like my 04 450r had one built in. Figured it wasn't a bad idea
The vent line was drilled and tapped into the cover. I used one of my 300 extra oem crankcase vent lines and it plumbed right onto my 1/4 npt by 1/2 barbed fitting.
I just ran it parallel to my frame and ziptied it beside my own crankcase breather.

We have ran these quite a bit and no adverse effects. No oil pissing out which is what I was concerned about.
Does it help? I couldn't tell ya but the theory sounds good and it's custom. Thats enough for me!

No judgement from me, but did you use electrical tape to hold the rear axle nut on? Haha if so you're my kinda guy!
I mean, it could be paint but that's not as entertaining haha

Think of it as a insurance policy.
They are tight. But I want that little extra security at 50mph in a full slide!
    So yes. Tape it is!
