    Gel coat on plastic tank?

Has anyone ever tried this on a plastic tank or should I just buy a new tank for my 250sx?

I would get another tank. I'm not sure how well it would hold.

It would be preferable to use an epoxy resin vs. a polyester resin on PPO/TPO/etc style plastics.......and if memory serves......you need to spray a releasing agent on top of the gel coat for it to be shiny.

    I'm with schlepp.......perhaps purchase a new tank

Why the thoughts on a gel coat?

You could probably sand and buff that to look decent you know. I don't know how nice you're looking to make your bike but if that doesn't leak I'd just clean it up and run it.

An upholstery shop might be able to make a tank cover out of vinyl?
Last time I looked, Ceet only had 250R and 350X tank covers available.

I had one on my 350X when I first bought it (not sure if it was Ceet or Answer) but over the years it finally started coming loose at some of the seams. I cut the threads along the seams so I could keep a pattern and cut and sew one out of new vinyl. Of course, mom & dad having an upholstery shop made things a little more accessible for me.
