Actually, yes it is.....
Picked this bike up a few years ago, kind of by accident and not knowing what it was at the time. It was advertised as an 84 200S, I bought it pretty much in the dark and at the it had grossly oversized mud tires that were chewing at the rear fenders, I verified that it ran and loaded up.
This was my first trike purchase after growing up riding an 84 ATC70, so I didnt look too much into it. By the light of day, the setup wasn't adding up and didn't look like a stock 200S, ran the neck number and it came back as an 81 185S. Still this bike didn't look like one of those either. So down the rabbit hole of aftermarket suspended bike research I went. I started collecting parts to return it to it's past glory (maybe, I have no idea of it's true history). One part of the ad was right though, it does have a 200S motor installed.
I picked up an 85 200X and an 85 350X, to have riders while I worked on restoring the 185S. Then I moved, and a few other hobbies took over. All the trikes sat neglected, and i finally sold the pair of 85's this past weekend, but wasn't quite ready to let go of this one just yet. So I have decided to put some effort into it. My mind has been teetering with idea of selling this past week, but cuurrent plan to is to get it running and functional, then decide whether to finish making it shiny and nice or pass on to next owner.
When I purchased it, it had a later model front hub mounted utilizing a couple dozen flat washers as spacers which was no bueno. I located a stock front axle and brake setup, and what was a NOS aluminum Mitchell wheel with correct bolt pattern and centered spacing (I believe it was intended for a Honda Odyssey) and wrapped it in a new Carlisle Knobby. After collecting dust for a few years, installing these parts was my starting point, and got it back on all 3.
So the jourmey starts to get this trike running and moving again.
Still haven't been able to positively identify what manufacturer(s) parts I have. If you have any input or information I'm all ears. From comparing pictures I believe it to be a HP-ATC weld-on swingarm kit and Darryl Smith triple trees with fork tubes from a dirt bike or small street bike.
Does it still count as a barn find if you're the one who left it there 3 years ago?
After it became a roller again and got rinsed off
"Interesting" paint work on the tank it came with. Maybe somebody recognizes it from a past life
