That's the vibe I'm getting from the headlight/fender combo too. It screams old snowmobile hood

Does the right rear have a power take off shaft connected to the axle?

Could you post up some better picture of the engine and exhaust? I see a centrifugal clutch and no foot shifter (of course). The heel guards aren't real common either. Could it be an early model from a snowmobile company that didn't last very long? Canadian perhaps?

Posted more pictures. Was wondering if anyone has ever seen one or knew anything about it. It says Polaris on it in a few spots. I got it from a person that was high up in Polaris many years ago.

    That is interesting.....
Looks like a two stroke with a four stroke pipe. Almost looks like a Bassani pipe. The tank looks like a ATC 90-110 as well as the foot peg pads....
I worked at a Honda/Suzuki/Polaris dealer back in the early 80's and remember when the Polaris three wheelers were released. Dont remember anyting looking like that.

It runs now! Was hard to find ignition parts for it. Has to take some super clean to the engine because the Robin sticker was painted over. I got it a few years ago and it had been sitting outside for the last 30 some years. So I put all brand new tires on it and new points and condenser. Built a custom air filter lol. The thing actually rips pretty good. The cable brakes are a little sketchy.

Post it up on Vintagesleds.com. Lots of old Polaris R+D guys hang out there. I'm sure someone would recognize it if it was a prototype.

The two stroke with a CVT says Polaris to me. The snowmobile controls also say Polaris to me. The Robin engine was/is made by Wisconsin and the state's right beside Minnesota where Polarises are made. It was acquired from someone who was "high up in Polaris for years", so I'm guessing that it was an early Polaris prototype that never made it into production. I do realize that the early Polaris ATV's used Fuji engines, but if this was a prototype, then it's all up in the air. I have to admit that at first glance, I thought Suzuki ALT. It's an AWESOME find no matter what. If it's stumping people on here, it could the rarest three wheeler out there. DEFINITELY a keeper.
