'85 250es bouncing into gear pretty bad...

Hey guys just got my ol 250es up and running again after sitting for a little over a year. Just took her out for a while today and noticed its bouncing into gear pretty bad. When i shift up, it sticks up and doesnt engage, so i tap it down into gear and it pops in and lurches foward. Then it also doesnt like shifting into neutral sometimes. Its really annoying. I know about the adjustment on the other side of the bike but on mine its all full of spray foam stuff. Im thinking the guy before me put that there to stop an oil leak maybe. Anyway just wondering what this is cause i cant wait to start ripping around again lol

Fairly common issue , pull the stator side cover and inspect the shift mechanism , pins break and they come loose .

Shortline10 knows more about trikes that I do, but here's something else to try. Since it's been sitting for over a year, the clutch may be sticky. An oil change could help. If it doesn't, at least you have fresh oil in the engine.
