But I dont want to jack this guys thread about his amazing find to have an argument about what tires came stock on bikes that are 30 years old.

Don't worry about jacking this thread. Love this kind of stuff. Love originality. My 250R & 350X still have the original date coded tires. '85 250R - Dunlop KT 576 on the front, KT577A on the rear. '86 350x - Ohtsu P/V 100 on the front with Ohtsu P/V 701 on the rear.

My '83 185s also has the original Ohtsu Pro AMs' on all 3 corners. Would love to know what brand of tires originally came on the '84 Big Red. Unfortunately I am missing the tire information decal on the side of the fender on my '84 Big Red (like the one shown in 200Maniac's pic above). Thanks everyone for your input/opinions - much appreciated.

No argument - just trying to clarify for a bit of fun.

Always thought the big red zig zaggy tires were some kind of dunlops.

Assumed the 85+ tires were too, but looks like are the ohtsu 501s ..

    Hello all.

Just borrowed these pics from the "old interweb". If you look closely at the front tire - by the "muddy tread" section - I think it says "Dunlop". Original?? Although I can't make out the "tire decal" info on the side fender.

Is it possible Canadian big reds came with the dunlop, but option in the states?

Where I grew up, during the prime trike years, anything outside of Big Reds/200e/200m was rare... The odd 200s, 110, 70 and gasp.. a 250r.. once. Tri-motos were fairly popular tho... and most people seemed to call everything, even the yellow ones, "Big Reds"...

Anyways, seemed like all the (real) Big Reds had that zig zag tire. Whether it was Dunlop, not sure, but I thought it was.

After some more research it looks like dunlop and ohtsu made the same tire for honda however while it was possible to get the dunlops on some models it was far more common to get the ohtsu version of the tire.

My 1984 definitely came with Dunlops just like the pics from the "old interwebs" posted above. Very nice find btw! I have the same front Kenda tire on mine now that you have and I think it's awesome.
