Don't thank me... It was ultimately Maier MFG decision.

If a good condition tool box is found, where should it be sent? wouldn't the tool box need to be disassembled for a mold to be made?

I donçt know how they are doing their molds, however, I was told he is possibly going to make a toolbox that should work, but may not look like the original. I think moat ppl would be happy just having the box to be used.

Something for Maier to consider, if making the tool box, is that nothing holds it in except the shape. It snaps in.

Doesn't Maier tend to make thinner plastic parts than OEM? The tool box is pretty thick, and it must have provisions for the rubber pads that hold in in place. The tail light also bolts to it.

The OE box comes out and goes back in pretty easy. If they make a part that is off, the rear grab bar may have to be removed to install it (which the rack and fenders are bolted to). Really, having to remove anything to put an aftermarket box in would be a PITA and it makes it more difficult to clean because the box can't be easily removed, which also has to be done to access the starter relay and voltage regulator/rectifier.

It undoubtedly will have to be thick enough to hold it's shape, to stay in place, and carry whatever is in it. In mine, there is a tow rope with hooks, a quart of oil, tool kit, spark plug, tire plug kit, a small hand pump, and pieces of foam to fill the gaps to keep everything from jostling around too much. I think I'm forgetting something, but I stuff more in there when needed, because, more will fit.

Just my guessing, but it'd be more like making a plastic fuel tank, and Maier doesn't make fuel tanks. It'd be good if they're willing and capable, but just some things they may not have known to think about.

They do have a 200es in shop to analyze all that. But thanks for all that info.

It's always a little exciting to hear of some new parts for old machines.

I'm just trying to throw out anything that may help. Although the 250ES is, in many ways, a nicer machine, these little 200ES's really aren't anything to overlook, but there seems to be less aftermarket support for them.

    More aftermarket parts...giggity.

That is a VERY debatable topic. One I would be on the opposite side of.

Hopefully these will be coming out soon. Up to the owner if wants to spring the $$ for them.
