200e recoil pulley-powder coat?? Ok idea??

Went to replace my broken rope. Couldnít wrap it around the rust, so.....apple cider vinegar removed most of it. Blasted it for good measure.

Iím thinking of having it powdered, just to slow the growth of future rust.
Also, no more gaskets for this-that I can find.

I had a starter that ate rope like crazy and it took a lot longer than it should have to figure out that the rust on the pulley and in the eye of the starter was causing it. i just sanded it down with scotchbrite and its been fine for years. Now that its been blasted it would probably rust back faster if you don't paint it or powder coat it.

Lol, yes most definitely would rust faster, now. The cider striped the anodized coating and I was thinking powder coated would be fine. But then again, I’ve never done this. Thanks for the reply. It’s bagged and ready to be dropped off today. Whether it be a plater or a coater-powder will be a faster turn around for me. I was just hoping the ‘dogs’ will still fit if I have it powdered.
Edit: I should have put powder coat VS anodizing in the title-my mistake.

Isn't that part steel? If so, you won't be anodizing it. Powder coat, yes. Anodizing is an oxide of sorts. Iron oxide is what you're trying to defeat here. LOL.

Might ask for it to be chrome plated. The plating will be thinner than PC and less likely to cause problems with mating parts.

If it were me, I'd use a good quality engine enamel, paint it and make sure it's thoroughly cured before assembly.

Factory finish is zink plating , powder is thick and will ruin the pulley . A good coat of galvanized spray paint and grease on all the moving parts is all you need . Check the dawg area for cracks . The factory handle is still available new and that will keep the water out and if you can’t find a gasket just seal it with rtv .

powder is not to be applied very thick, some people do but you don't need much. I've seen it crazy thick or very light, depends who has been educated who is applying it.
