    Steering Stem Bearing Replacement

I'm in the process of replacing the steering stem bearings with the All Balls set. When taking off the fork and old bearing race, there is a bottom race (see picture). Does this come off? I have been banging this with a punch & and it's not moving at all. Please help or suggest on how to remove this. The piece I'm referring to is where the flat head screwdriver is pointing to. Thanks in advance.

    Thanks

Thanks for the reply. Now I know it's removable. I thought it was welded on and non-removable. Thanks again Hondatcs.

Those are difficult to remove in general I think. I've had trouble with the loose balls lower race and the tapered bearing style both

I changed mine on a 250R recently and I beat, punched, pried, pulled, cussed, heated, yelled, cutoff wheeled, and then it finally started moving off the stem

Heat the race up with a torch and tap it off with a punch .

I used a chisel attachment on my long barrel air when i did this to the 200X front end on my 85 SX. It took a little bit, but it was MUCH easier than swinging a .

As other have suggested. Cut it off with a demel or heat it up and remove.
