It's an 83 ATC185S frame if I typed the numbers in right. You can double check the harness, the tail light connectors on the main harness should be both double female terminals, 83 was the only year with the old style CDI plug and those tail light connectors. I can see the CDI plug in the photo so it's 80-83 for sure based purely on that.

MRsound parted out a 200 standard earlier this summer, maybe he still has the frame?

JDd100 if that is an '83 185S I can see a couple differences, that bar with the cylinder ends that goes near where the gastank would screw in isn't on the 200 and the airbox looks different but I really appreciate trying to help! I will try to see if I can private message MRSound on here and maybe he still has it. I'm not sure if the regular 200 trikes didn't sell like the others or what, but it's difficult to find a frame for sale! There's quite a few 185S, 200S, and 200X frames listed but the 200 without the letter is a difficult find.

Also, my other '81 ATC 200 standard has a 14 letter VIN... aren't they supposed to always be 17 digits?Click image for larger version.

You, also, have a keen eye, sir. Mine are not so. I had a hard time making out a couple digits, so my search, several months ago, only narrowed it down to an ‘83. Forgetting of it’s little brother, I only assumed it to be that. I don’t know if much gets by these gentlemen.
    Ps2fixer-thanks for the info!

    No prob.

Old VIN numbers were different before the standardize 17 character VINs. That site I linked takes that into account, atleast for Honda VINs. It can even ID US90 frames etc. I don't recall when the standard VINS came into play, probably around 85ish?

Just sitting here with no use for me. Hit me up in PM and we can discuss getting it to ya. Never shipped a frame but it’s yours for shipping from Pa.

If OP is good with it, I think the easiest way would be to package anything that could get damage (like fender supports if they unbolt, rear brake lever etc) in a box in the center of the frame (secured well), then shipping wrap the frame, basically a thicker surround wrap, give it a good 3-5 layers everywhere and slap a label on it. The frame should be pretty strong on it's own to handle the shipping bumps and such assuming nothing is sticking out to get damaged easily (expect it to get dropped etc).

The other option is to wrap it in cardboard, but it might be a real pain getting it covered well and such. Smaller frames I've shipped in two boxes made into one, like atc90 frames and it worked out well. Most likely you'd get hit with over size fees, so shipping will probably be $50-100 depending on weight and size. USPS might not ship it if it's too big, fedex and ups accept larger sizes, and there's other shipping options like the gray hound buses if you have a station near both of you.

Anyway, good luck with getting the frame to the OP.

Thanks, probably just strip rest of parts off. Less weight less cost.

Depending how big the package ends up, the weight might not matter, bloated rates automatically add fake weight to the package. One inch over size is something like 20lbs rate unless the package is over 20lbs. It's a weird system though, but yea, less stuff to deal with would make packing it up easier.

Worn, or difficult to read serial number reading trick courtesy of the Mexicans.

Step 1: Rub the serial number vigorously with a piece of carbon paper

Step 2: Place a piece of clear Scotch tape over the serial number and press hard while rubbing the tape

Step 3: Remove the tape and place it on a piece of white paper

Step 4: Read the Serial number with ease

I sent MRSOUND a pm and hopefully all will work out. Thanks for the replies everyone. The '83 and '81 ATC 200 look pretty different thought and not sure if they are compatible. The airbox looks different, and there's a crossbar on the '83 that may block the exhaust. Did '83 have a side exhaust or did it go through the middle like the '81? Click image for larger version.
