They take a special taper headed bolt that fits into the countersunk holes on the sprocket. They can be a pain in the butt to find. I'm not sure if the 86 250r uses the same ones, but they are similar.

According to partzilla, the 86 350x bolts fit nothing else and is out of production. The 86 250r appears somewhat similar, but the diagram shows it has some flats on the sides, while the 350x looks like it's tapered right to the face of the bolt. Might be worth trying one though. Bonus is that they are in production still. Oh the second part number listed shows it, assuming the thread size and such is the same, I suspect they should work. Wish they had sizes listed for the part (bolt size around + length).

Also note, these appear to be super common on 300ex and 400ex/400x machines. I even saw a 2017 machine listed, so shouldn't go out of production for a long time. If you try them, I'd be interested to hear back if it worked. I have a couple 350x's and such. Actually.... they fit 87-92 TRX250X as well, I have one of those machines as a roller. If I get a chance I'll have to see if either of my 350x's has the 86 style sprocket and swap a bolt over and see what it's like.

The 350x bolts are longer than the 250r's. They have a bigger shoulder where they go through the bushings in the stock sprocket hub.

Thanks for the photo + measurement. Shoulder part I wouldn't care much about, but the whole bolt is so much longer there's no way the 250r one would work .
