Hey guys. I’m new around here. I recently picked up a 1985 250ES Big Red. I actually have been trying to buy this rig from a customer of mine for almost 2 years now. A few weeks ago he called me and asked if I still wanted it. I said “sure, how much?” He then said “you can have it for what I paid for it. Nothing” so he gave me this rig!! Anyways. It’s been setting for God knows how long. I got it home, cleaned all of the rat crap and junk out of the intake box and tubes. Kicked it over, found it had compression and spark. Took the carb apart but couldn’t get the jets out or the choke. So I soaked it for 2 days in pinesol and still couldn’t get them out. I decided just to see if it would crank on ether and go from there. It cranked with no smoke so I just ordered a new carb for it and changed oil and filters. I’m thinking it should run fine once I get the carb. If it cranks and runs alright, I’ll be in this thing for under $250 total.
