    185s mudflaps flap under

    Hi everyone,

My 83 185s rear fender mudflaps have a habit of flapping under/being pulled up underneath by the tire. Has anyone else had a problem with this? I am thinking about fashioning a strut to help hold the mudflap up a bit more in hopes of preventing this from happening and requiring me to stop and unflap it. However, I am hesitant to add something which could put more stress on the original plastic fender piece.

Has anyone else had this problem and come up with an elegant solution?

    Regards,

Their were 4 metal support pieces that are supposed to hold the flaps , are yours missing ?

Never happens to the rear flaps on my '83 185s but on a rare occasion the front flap gets sucked in - hate when that happens.

Are you running 22x11x8 tires ? Are the tires over inflated? We always removed the mud flaps from our 3wheelers because we ride in the desert.

I am running 22x11x8 sized Kenda Klaw XC's properly inflated. It seems that the profile may be a bit flatter than the original Ohtsu's. I am not sure as to whether the tire profile may contribute to this happening. I will be replacing these with Cheng Shin 829's in 22x11x8's soon and these have a more similar to stock profile. Ultimately, I want to put some Aluminum wheels on this 3 wheeler, so this will add about 2 inches width per side which I suspect could exacerbate the mudflap problem. I live in AZ, and also ride in Utah, so perhaps the flaps wouldn't be needed at all times, but I like to retain the stock look of my machines as much as possible.
