    350x gearing with 20" tires

    Hi all,

Looking to change out my whooped chain and sprockets, and go from 18" rear tires to 20". I know 22" is stock, but too much sidewall for me. Anyone care to guess what the gearing should be changed to for stock like performance, and top speed on 20" rear tires?

I went with a 36 rear sprocket on mine.

I switch back and forth from 20" hole shots to a set of old spidertrax that are at least 22" or more and I don't really notice much of a difference if any at all.

The top speed with a gear ratio change is dependent on what the top speed currently is. If you know that, the new top speed can be closely calculated by simply calculating the percentage change in gear ratio then add 2 zero's in front of that number then multiply your current top speed by that number then subtract that number from your current top speed, or, calculate your old and new gear ratios then enter that info and the tire info and the trans final drive ratio into the handy dandy calculator below and it will tell you. If your finial drive ratio is 1 to 1, enter 1:1 in the trans ratio box etc.

I run the 20" Dunlops from my 85 R on my stock 85X with stock gearing. It'll barely pull 6th with my fat on it on sand. No clue how fast that is. Never had 22" on it as long as I've had it. I have some stock TRX400 20" tires on it now. Same deal with gearing.

Here's an update for you guys replacing 350x chain and sprockets. I couldn't find any other sizes than 40t rear, and a 14 front is available but supposedly rubs the case saver. So stock gearing it is :-(

I think my front sprocket was due.
