    Small industrial engine identification

My neighbor acquired this and it's fresh as a daisy. It's completely new inside and out a hasn't been fired yet. It's incredibly well built, but we have no idea what it is. I suggested possibly Kohler, but I think that might not be likely. I thought maybe Wisconsin or Robin, but I'm just guessing. Let's see what you donkeys are made of!

Wisconsin ab, abn or abs is my guess with angled plug like that

    2-1/2" bore
    2-3/4" stroke

    AB 2.9hp @ 2400 rpm

    ABS 3.6hp @ 3600 rpm

    ABN 4.6hp @ 3600 rpm

I think under tank bracket there is a spot where engine # is

CAn you easily find parts for those? And did they ever have a traditional recoil?

I helped my neighbor with an old asphalt roller years ago. It had one of those in it. They are moving and told me I could have it. It did run, smoked like crazy.

Neat motor Fabio, you find all the cool stuff....or it finds you! ^There's a very informative forum called "Smokstak" that has a ton of info on old iron from small engines to steam tractors, the recoil question might get answered there.

Yes sir. Next door neighbor had one on a massive walk behind, self propelled mower. As a young kid I remember him being pissed out of his skull and repeatedly winding that rope and pulling it as he cursed at the mower. Learned a lot of words watching him start that beast.

Only other place I recall seeing a Wisconsin was on grandpa’s grain auger.

Painted spark plugs don’t usually inspire my confidence in ‘fully rebuilt’ stories, but it does look pretty.

I have only done work on an agnd and thd
I think i posted my saga of getting the thd running from some scrapyard parts.
Likely there is some old oem/nos stuff around but some gaskets might have to be hand cut or rings sized to fit.
