    Finally completed 1985 Tri-Z 250 Restoration-For Now

    I haven't posted in years, but I never lost my love for 3 wheelers.

    It's been a long journey, but I finally have a Tri-Z that is something to be proud of.

    This is not a show quality build, but it is a complete frame up restoration with the goal of creating a near new trike:

    * Frame, swingarm, hubs,wheel extenders, bearing carrier, and shock spring powdercoated
    * New bearings in rear axle, swingarm, steering head (All Balls rollerbearing conversion), and front wheel
    * Custom made disc brake/rear sprocket skidplate 1/4" steel
    * Bullet proof swingarm has been gusseted and welded for strength (stock swingers are highly prone to cracking)
    * Replaced original blown shock with Warrior shock
    * New chain, sprockets, chain guide, and roller
    * 2 1/2" wheel extenders for a total stretch of 5"
    * Twist throttle
    * Douglas polished aluminum rear wheels
    * New voltage regulator
    * Repaired lighting system to make functional again
    * Engine completely rebuilt-replaced crankcases and cylinder, rebuilt crankshaft w/new bearings, transmission bearings, seals everywhere, and piston bored 1 size over
    * Barnett clutch and heavy duty springs
    * New clutch cable
    * Boyeson power reeds
    * Mystery aftermarket pipe
    * FMF Turbinecore silencer
    * New Maier Plastics
    * After market radiator shields
    * Decal kit

    It rides as good as it looks.

    Next on my list is new tires.

    I'd also like to upgrade the suspension, the grab bar, possibly replace the rear axle (it functions fine but has rust I cant seem to remove), and do some performance upgrades to the engine eventually.

    Looks much better, nice work. I'm glad you went with the yellow. I always liked that color scheme on the Tri-Z's.

    Thanks

    Yellow and black has always been my favorite Yam colors.

    It's been a long journey to restore this one. It was so beat down when I first got it, and it put up quite a fight to get it to the point where it's at today.

    Totally worth the effort though, as I now have a fresh, totally unique ride that in some ways is better than it was new. Such a blast to ride...

    Nice. Love the yellow Z. I have a red and white 86, but if I were to get another it would a yellow 85.
