I'm posting this because I thought some people here might get a laugh out of it. Plus hopefully it will help motivate some to get out to some races or finish their projects and start riding them.
I started racing Motocross again last September after taking a 26 year hiatus from riding any bikes and ATV's (due to a broken hip from a crash while racing a 1974 CR125), and the first bike I got to start racing on was a 1980 YZ250. The tank decals on this bike were worn off, so instead of putting new YAMAHA decals on it, I thought it would be amusing to put GERITOL on it since I am old enough to ride in the Geriatric age group anyway, and most everyone that saw it laughed, so I decided to leave it on there.
My 250 blew up 3 months ago so I hurriedly put together a 1981 YZ465 that I had purchased around 1 month before my 250 grenaded. Unfortunately it had a massive 3.5 gallon desert tank on it, so I put my 250 tank on it which had the GERITOL script. I raced it with the same clubs I raced my 250 with and nobody realized it was a different bike because they look very similar.
At the last vintage race I went to, I was approached in the morning by a well known Motorcycle racing photographer named Tom Corley, whom had seen my bike at a few of the races he attended, and he asked me if he could take a photo of me with it because he heard lots of people talking about it and he wanted to put it in one of his articles, so that photo, along with one of me holeshotting a race that day are in the article below.
Soon after I put GERITOL on my tank I had an epiphany, and thought about trying to get some type of sponsorship from GERITOL since I am in a niche market that they don't target, so now that the article has come out, I am going to include that with my proposal to GERITOL to see if I can get anything out of them. Once I had thought about asking GERITOL if they might be interested in sponsoring me, I thought that I would ask VIAGRA as well, since both companies target people in my age group. In addition to these two companies, I am also going to ask IGNITE (who sells a CBD product) if they might want to chip in, because I saw they were sponsoring a Supercross rider this year and have a product for muscle soreness that they market to all age groups. I'm currently waiting to hear back from HOOSIER later this week as to whether they want to sponsor me with some free tires.
I never even considered getting any type of sponsorship when I started racing again cuz I didn't think anyone would have any interest in sponsoring an old, slightly weathered looking, ex Motocross racer, but I now figure that I have nothing to loose and only some free stuff to gain, so I have decided to milk this Geriatric thing as much as I can and even start asking for "Senior's Discounts" everywhere I go as well, cuz I earned it just by living this long...oh, and yes, I now also shop at Walmart.
PS - I have made 10 holeshots with this bike so far, and the last 9 were consecutive, so it seems to run quite well on GERITOL.

The race below is a new class they call "Centarian" and it was surprisingly popular and attracted all the top riders in this club. It is for any age rider and any age bike providing the rider and bikes age together total at least 100 years. There were three experts, several intermediates and one or two novices in it. I finished 3rd in this moto because I went a little slower than I could have because it was the last of 6 races I entered that day so I was a little tired and didn't want to overdue it, plus I also didn't need to win the race to win my class, however, even in 3rd place I beat all but 1 of the experts (an intermediate rider won but he's really an expert level rider) and the expert that beat me is the reigning champion in his class and current points leader, so I was still quite happy with that.
Part on Garth!
