The whole thing that triggered this project was finding a thread on which brake calipers are compatible with the 200x. This frame was free but didn't have any brakes. I wasn't going to build it because I didn't want to pay for a complete OEM brake system. But apparently you can use any 90's-2000's kx80/85 rear caliper on the front and any 90's-2000's cr80/85 front caliper on the back. You just use your factory brackets. The kx front and cr rear master cylinder should work also. All of these can be had for less than $30 each on ebay in good condition.
I bought a nice looking rear shock on Ebay for $45 because this one looked beat. I also picked up a foot brake lever, motor mounts, and 200x intake manifold
So far
motor mounts $40
kx85 caliper $25
cr85 caliper $25
brake lines $30
Foot brake lever $25
200x intake $30
rear shock $45
I still need to pick up
seat cover
wheel bearings
fork seals
400ex hubs (+2")
86/87 200x front fender
I am probably going to install a 185/200s motor. The 200x and XR200 motors are getting kinda rare and I like the idea of an automatic for a woods bike. I have a couple of big fin 200x cylinders and could install a cam.

Whats old is new.
i sold the rc51 4 years ago when they were still pulling 5K all day. I figured by 20 years old they wouuldnt be as valuble or too valuvle and no one could afford. Was a fun bike however. I stay in dirt only now. I had built it out of 4 boxes.
I think an AutoX is an excellent trike. I love mine. It has a 1981 ATC200 engine on it and I haven't had any issues with overheating with the smaller fins. That's your choice. I needed a rear caliper and front master. I bought both with the brake line on Ebay as a set. It was a 2005 CR85. I used the master on the front but since the bike had a twist throttle, it had to be tilted backward in order for the master to clear the thumb throttle. The only thing that saved me is the fact that the bike was wrecked and the brake lever was bent down. It sits at the perfect angle for me. Just a little FYI. You can use a front master from a newer quad.
you can use th front masyer from anything with a 7/8" bar which is every japan made bike, trike atvs.
It may have been the bend in my brake lever that made it so that the master had to be as close to the throttle as possible. With a straight lever, you may be able to use this master with no problems. I just couldn't grab the lever comfortably with the master mounted farther inboard on the bars.
