    200x questions

I have been assembling parts to restore this 200x frame and noticed the bottom triple tree doesn’t have the holes for a headlight mounting bracket and the front fender is different also. Now my maier 200x front fender won’t fit and I am wondering if I have 200x forks or something else.

Looks like a 250R front fender. Is that a x next to it in the picture, how does a compare that one?

The one beside it is a stock 85 200x with a blue rear shock. It has a stock wide shovel front fender but it is vented in the back. I think this frame is an 83 or 84 due to the red rear shock.

Will I have to get an 86-87 fork rebuild kit for the front shocks or are they the same as 83-85.

Same basically as 83-85——just use care when removing/installing the top fork caps their (aluminum).

I know the 250r front fender is a direct fit to the first gen 200x but this front fender had the bolt spacing very close together. It may be a 86/87 200x front fender because its white. Unfortunately maier doesn't offer the 86/87 200x front fender in stealth black anymore.

Get dc plastics to make you one. He repod all tecate fenders for me. 1st ones free too.

Your triples and fender are 86-87 200x entire front end is. Many different front ends were swapped in the last 30+ years. It's nothing new. 250r fenders look better imo then 83-85 200x.

My other 200x has these rear fenders that always seemed odd. I’m not sure if there repros or what. They look oem except for they are cut back to far under the seat by the kick starter and the fender support bracket is rubbing into them. I thought they might be 250r fenders but there is even the correct spot in the back for the long 200x decal. If I could just find a support bracket that didn’t cut into them. I had those exact fenders on the first 200X I ever bought. I never could ID who made them, but they definitely had that same shape around the kicker and they were cut or molded way too short in the front under the seat. Im pretty sure they didn't cover the rubber fuel tank bumpers on the sides like the OEM fenders do. Finish also looked like it was never shiny like current Maier offerings and the OEM fender bracket had almost worn through the fenders where they touched because they don't fit correctly. I'm pretty sure it had a melted spot where it also touched the exhaust pipe. Those fenders were a hot mess from start

I gave them away because I hated how they were short in the front and all wrong in all the other places

That's maiers. You cant use the factory fender brace like that or they melt. You need to cut the circle part off then use a rubber washer and mount them with a screw washer and a bolt. I'll upload my pics later for those who give a crap about not melting fenders again.

here is what you need to do with maier fenders and the stock seat braket so it does not dig into and flop around to melt fenders.
